Yusk and his “gekkigheid”!

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Finally we can proudly announce that yet another wall can be added to the list that is slowly growing!! This time it is Yusks time!

Yusk was very anxious to start but when he finally got the cherry picker of the right hight (27meter!!) it was a little scary in the beginning.

Horoiwa, already experienced in driving the machine is teaching every single member of the team.

And then…the black latex…lots of black latex…27 degrees Dutch sunshine and black, lot of black latex…

Delftsehof

Friday, July 31st, 2009

The first wall is ready! After nearly 20 days of early mornings, yoga postures, vegetarian eating, no alcohol, long painting summer days, Speto’s work makes Rotterdam warmer and more beautiful!

On his way here, Speto had to wait 4 hours for his connection in Madrid. Instead of wainting in a borring cold airport, he went to Reina Sofia Museum to check once more one of his favourite paintings of all times, the “Guernica”, from Picasso. When asked about his inspiration for his piece at Delftsehof, Speto doens’t hesitate: Guernica was his light!

huge walls, natur, happy pill, horo and a lot of latex

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Horoiwa’s wall is 216m², and needed to be fully covered with white latex before he could start to spray on it.  To help him with his task, 3 German urban artists (Momo, Kola, and Happy Pill)   had the patience to come all the way to Rotterdam. They belong to the art collective Natur and Happy Pill, and those who are really creative take any chance to use creativity:  instead of just covering the walls in white, they made a quick and fun piece of their own. Sehr geil! Dankeschön! (check out their web pages: Natur- http://www.nartur.de.tl/

As they were high up in the elevator, we received the first visit from the already expected guests: the police! And guess what? They were not there to complain about the wall, but to complain about a little stain of paint that we dropped on the floor… ;) No problem! We’ll clean it, yes sir, mister sir, yes sir!

They also took the chance to paint a bit gais’ wall at the NAI!

Wall tour

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

After a short nice night of sleep, the boys went around to the city to check the walls, and of course to get to know a few touristic points…
